I am new here, this is my second post and i saw this forum.
My mother in law has completly different parenting styles as i do. I do not let my son eat junk, he is only 1. I do not let him have juice unless its %100. And i also have him on a schedule, when he sleeps and when he goes to bed. I like him to nap at the same time every day and for sleep at night, we read a story brush his teeth and i set him into bed.
She doesnt agree with anything i do with him, she doesnt think its necessary to have a scedule, she says he should just sleep when he watns to and to go to bed when he is about to pass out. She wants to give him juice and have him walk around with it becuase he could be thirsty 24/7. lol

Anyway that is only the half of it. And i just had to vent about her. Oh and over the weekend her and my father inlaw accused us of not taking proper care of him, they said "he's not getting enough to eat", "he's not getting all he needs", and blah blah blah, i really dislike them right now.
Thanks
Carrie

Oh Carrie

YOU are the mum, they should never ever undermine you, EVER.

I find the same problems with my mother. Basically she 'raised 3 kids and we're all ok' so she seems to think that means she can raise mine better than me. I just have to bite my tounge and remember that she's only trying to help. However, i do ask her to respect me, and my parenting style, and that if she can't do things our way, then she won't be allowed to babysit. Amazing how quickly she 'falls into line' when threatened with that!

I have Grandparent issues. mostly along the same lines as you two, MIL does things in a more relaxed way, but because My eldest has health issues we cant let her have crap food as often as MIL would let her. not so long ago my MIL was taking her to McDonald's more than once a week, after we had specifically told her NO McDONALD'S!

not so bad now, (helps that shes not here) but I can guarantee when she gets back it will be same old story. Im general she is good, but we have specific word form our peadiatrician that Akasha needs to watch her diet for the rest of her life, and MIL doesn't seem to get it.

theres other stuff too. but wont go into it right now.
