Earthquake!!!!

well we had an earthquake today at 12.37pm 70k north of Nelson 5.5 in the richter scale. I have a phobia about earthquakes so it freaked me out even though it was very brief :roll:
i was sitting feeding tia her lunch and I got this feeling of Vertigo, I thought I was just having a dizzy spell till I heard a rattle and saw the dvd racks on top of our wall unit were swaying and banging together.

Very exciting :) I used to live in Gisborne and we had them all the time. I soon got over any fear :lol:

yeah, it wouldnt be so bad but our area apparently has big ones every 80 years or so, and we are about 20 years over due! :shock:

yer i hate earth quakes when they happen i always think of the worset,i live in hawkes bay and we get a few here

Palmy has them all the time too, I remember when I first moved there, we were in bed asleep and the house and bed started to shake, I thought someone was breaking in! I Screamed at Si and said its just an earthquake go back to sleep, I was like I what? OMG shouldnt we be under the door ways or something? Bloody Aucklander I had no Idea :)

Just had another one! 5.9 just out of Murchison. hubby was looking at our celing fan (which was switched off) and he said "ha, look at that" And i looked and it was shaking, and I said "what the he- earthquake!" and just as i said it we got a jolt and the wall unit started shaking, I was carrying tia so I got under the doorway and waited, it was only about 7 seconds.

yeah i felt that earthquake to in chch! i was sitting there reading harry potter lol and he was going through a portkey and omg as he was spinning, the house started shaking and i was thinking i have an awfully good imagination, then i saw the pictures on the wall shaking and clicked :oops:

Yikes, I hate earthquakes.. I've been in several.. 3 of them in Gisborne.. nothing severe but it still scared the crap outta me all the same :p
