I'm here!!! Hope everyone else joins us soon!!!
May take me a little while to figure out how to negotiate the site but I am so glad that we are going to continue chatting!!!
Thanks KIRSTY!!!
This baby is still nameless...I think we are going to have to go to the hospital with our list of names and decide from there! Unless DH decides he really does like Chloe!!!:D
ETA: I was Mommyto3cs on the other site. I need to figure out how to put my kids in my signiture

Diane!! Pleased you made it over :) The others are coming over slowly, but i hope they'll all join us :)
Our baby doesn't have a name yet either... we've talked about a few, but so far there isn't one that we go 'oh yeah', you know? I really like Chloe though, try and talk him around ;) Do you have a middle name picked?
Diane, if you go to Quick Links (up top) and Edit Signature, you can add them there :)

Mandy, i meant to ask, how did you come up with the name Ashleigh Rose? Is it a family name? Just a name you liked?
Devan

Hi ladies! :excited: I made it over.
It's going to take me some time to get used to this format, but it looks great!

Yay Devan! So pleased you made it over!!!

Welcome Devan! Kirsty Ashleigh is just a name I have always liked and Rose is DH grandmothers name!

We named Dylan before we had him. From about 6 months pregnant we called him Saxon James, that was his name. But... the day he was born, one look and he just wasn't a Saxon. This time we're NOT naming the baby in advance LOL

Hey
Anyone have any recent appts to share? How is everyone feeling?
I am feeling pretty good. Had to stay at work til 3am on Sat and then had to be back there at 3pm yesterday so I am paying for it today. Totally exhausted. Fighting a cold/congestion/cough for the past 4weeks. I have an OB appt tomorrow so I am going to mention it to her and see what she thinks.
I know there are few scheduled c/s...when are they?
who will be the first delivery? Can't believe that March will be here in a few days!!!
Mandy
26th February 2007, 06:54 PM
Welcome Gyszel! Well I just got home from my OB appt I am 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced doc says could be tomorrow could be weeks still so who knows but I will be going in once a week for the rest of the pregnancy now.

Welcome! A shower sounds fun I opted not to have one this time as I dont know a whole lot of people around where I live but may have some kind of Party after my little girl comes to welcome her!

Hey Gyszel, you made it :woohoo:
diane, good thinking, we should add the scheduled c-sections on the first page so we can see! I'm going to be induced about the end of March, they're looking 37 weeks at this stage...
Alexsmom, ohhhhh, might not be long now!!!
Tera!!! Yay!! Pleased you joined us
Hope you feel better soon.
I'm not having a shower this time, 2nd baby and all...
My next appointment is on Monday, it's a scan, and they'll be telling me if they are going to induce at 37 or 38 weeks, so can't wait, as then i'll know for sure what's happening.
I'm thinking of starting EPO soon, i did it last time, but don't know if it did anything, anyone else do anything like that?
Mandy
27th February 2007, 12:10 AM
Kirsty what is EPO??
Kirsty
27th February 2007, 12:34 AM
Sorry, Evening Primrose Oil.
diane
27th February 2007, 01:02 AM
Kirsty- too early to start EPO, IMO. I know you said that you had diabetes, and I know you had issues with Dylan but I am wondering if they are concerned with having a large baby and that is why they are going to induce early with you. The OB's here wouldn't induce a diabetic here without an amnio that would show fetal lung maturity as babies of diabetics tend to take a little longer to mature the lungs. Just curious if they do things a little different where you are?? Sorry for all the questions:confused:
Alexsmom- I was 1-2cm/50% at 33wks with my last one and had some preterm ctx. It's way too early to have a baby!!! Keep her in there as long as you can!!
Gyszel-HI!! glad to have you here!
Devan- Hi to you too!
Tera- a shower sounds like fun!! Only had one...and that was 5 1/2yrs ago. Wish I was having another one. I got a fdew new things myself though!
gotta run and get the kids in bed
Kirsty
27th February 2007, 01:05 AM
Yes they do things differently here, typical eh?
Here they induce at 38 weeks at the latest with a diabetic, they will not go any longer. If it's a big baby they will induce at 37 weeks. They do not do any tests closer to the time, all they will do is a scan next week (34w2d) and they will decide from that scan. So from that point i'll have about 3 weeks before i'll be induced, so don't think EPO will do anything before then. I took it for 5 weeks (from 31w) with Dylan, i had him at 36w after being induced.

Hey all!!
I'm getting SO excited!! The end of this week marks the "one month til my due date" day. :) I can't believe it's getting so close! We're going to have to start sharing lists of "what's left to do".
I don't think I'll be having a shower this time around either. Maybe a "meet the baby" party after he/she arrives, but I don't need much in the way of gifts, so I don't really rate a party, ya know? I will need tons of clothes if it's a boy, though!
My next appointment is next Monday (one week from today), where I'll get the GBS test...then I start going weekly, too. I think mine is the first "official" April due date, but I'm sure many of us will be having our babies early. :)
I will start drinking red raspberry leaf tea soon, because it tones the uterus for labor, but doesn't induce/cause labor. I'm paranoid of doing anything to make the baby come "too soon"...but I am totally ready for eviction day if you know what I mean! Getting very physically uncomfy, and mentally impatient ;) If I am still pregnant past April 10, believe me I'll be doing anything I can to start labor!! LOL
EPO is one of those things that will only work if you're almost ready to go on your own anyway. Here it's kinda expensive, so I wouldn't use it this early...it would seem a waste of money IMHO! LOL
Okay, must run...bbl for more updates!
Gyszel
Kirsty
27th February 2007, 02:48 AM
What's GBS?
Yeah i did RLT last time too... EPO is pretty cheap here, so cost isn't really a problem. I'm seeing my MW next Monday and i'll ask her what she thinks.
TeraDN
27th February 2007, 04:28 AM
well, its really funny. I told my gal pal not to worry about it, this being our third boy, but she insisted. So its a diaper and wipe or frozen dinner shower.
as for the EPO and RRBTea, well if your body is not ready, it wont help. So try but dont be afraid of it bringing on imediate labor. Those natural herbal ways just arent as potent as pitocin, or cervidil.
Mandy
27th February 2007, 05:41 AM
GBS is group B strep or beta strep
Kelly
27th February 2007, 07:40 AM
**Lurker in**
EPO soaked on a tampon and inserted over night for as long as you want works amazingly at softening the cervix, great for inductions! True it wont start labour unless you are ready anyway, but getting the cervix nice and soft before an induction would be a bonus ;)

Kelly
27th February 2007, 07:55 AM
Every day for a week should be enough, honestly my mums besty/mw swears by it, gets all her ladies to do it in the lead up to an induction or if they are around 36 weeks.
Kirsty
27th February 2007, 07:58 AM
36 weeks for a normal 40 week pregnancy?
So should i start doing that now (33 weeks for a 37 week pregnancy)?
Kelly
27th February 2007, 08:05 AM
Yip :) cant hurt, all it will do is soften things up, if nothing is ready to happen it wont.
Kelly
27th February 2007, 08:06 AM
P.S
She told me to do it with Kayla, but I was paranoid so didnt, no chance in me not doing it this time!!!!

That's interesting. I might have to try it if I get close to my edd with no sign of baby in sight. Dane was 4 days late, and I was induced with cervadil only. No need for the pitocin as i had him 7 hrs after the cervadil was put in.

Gyszel
28th February 2007, 02:17 AM
I don't think I could fit a tampon in there right now...*ouch* Everything is so swollen and sore down there! Bravo if you can ;) Maybe if I go really way past my due date and I'm desperate, I'll try that trick :D
BTW: how do I turn off notices of replies to this thread? My inbox is going to fill up quick if I keep getting them! LOL
Devan
28th February 2007, 02:31 AM
Kirsty - Owen's mn is Pierce. :)
Gyszel - I think you can go to QUICK LINKS and to EDIT OPTIONS. I think there is a place to change it there.
Or you can go to QUICK LINKS and SUBSCRIBED THREADS. You can change it there. :D
Kirsty
28th February 2007, 02:46 AM
Where does Pierce come from? Just a name you like, or family name?

I love this smiley. I have been craving wine for the last 8 months. :wine:

Lemon sorbet...YUM!!! tried to find it at the store the other day but bought Mango instead. Double YUM!!!
As for names...we are at a loss...there are several that we like but aren't totally sold on. Caroline is probably #1 but I have issues with it as my MIL, who I DO NOT get along with as she is a mean person to me, had said she really liked it if we had another girl (this when I first found out I was PG and didn't know it was a girl). In her twisted mind, she will tell everyone in the world that she named her granddaughter. It was our only girl name when I found out I was PG. So...not sure if I want to give her the satisfaction. DH really likes though.
this name was suggested to me last night: CADENCE tell me what you think, I was thinking of the nn Cadie (Cadee) pronounced CAY DEE.
Here are a few names on our list:
Caroline
Chloe
Claire
Caitlyn
Charlotte
Callie
Cadence
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! Tell me what you think and your favorite of all these names
Uneventful OB appt yesterday. She checked me for all the cramping and pressure I have been having. She said my external os is open 1cm but the inner os (the important one) is closed. the external os is most likely open because I have had a baby (or 3) before and the pressure is probably just due to the same thing. So not exciting at all.
Kirsty- quite interesting about the way they do things in New Zealand. When is your scan? next week? Good luck with that!!
Hello to everyone else!
Devan
1st March 2007, 02:01 AM
Kirsty - I made lemon bars the other day. They were yummy!! I can't imagine eating a lemon, but the baby wants what it wants! ;)
Diane - I really like the name Cadence/nn Cadie. Very nice. I actually really like every name on your list, though Caroline is probably my least favorite. (especially after hearing your mil story...)
Kirsty
1st March 2007, 03:33 AM
Diane, i really like Cadie too!! Why not just Cadie, not a nn? Caroline would be my least favourite too after your MIL story. I couldn't give mine the satisfaction :P
Devan, lemon bars? What are they?
My scan is on Monday, i can't wait! Will be nice to know the date of induction!! Means we can plan a bit more :)
Mandy
1st March 2007, 05:08 AM
Oh Kirsty you dont know what your missing lemon bars are great!!
Kirsty
1st March 2007, 05:55 AM
So what are they?!
diane
1st March 2007, 01:55 PM
Kirsty- they are like bars that have a lemon filling on top. I will see if I can find my recipe for them!! YUM!!!
As for Cadence, DH liked it. I like Cadie as a name too but not sure what he would think of that. Need to run it by him. My other question is: Do you think it goes okay with my other kids names? Their names are fairly common and Cadence is not. Though I have heard that Cadence is getting somewhat popular in parts of the US.
I think I will just have to write all the names down and give to DH and see which he likes the best. I will probably show up at the hospital without a definite name!!!:dontknow: Maybe I will let DH choose the name this time, though I will have the final say!;)
I will go look for that recipe!
Devan
1st March 2007, 02:07 PM
Kirsty, they are kind of like a soft cookie bar. I make mine out of a box so I don't have a recipe. You'd probably love them though, very lemony. yum. ;)
Devan
1st March 2007, 02:08 PM
Diane - I think Claire probably goes best with your other dc's names, but Cadie works pretty well too.
TeraDN
1st March 2007, 04:23 PM
I usually go with 3 names picked out. Then if you just look at the lil one and go, hum, nope not *****, then you have some alternates. Our issue is we have Dade, Logan, and now Gage. Dade and Gage are just one letter different! But we love the name, so we are gonna just brave it and if anyone wants to laugh, so be it! When I let DH name Logan, I regretted it in the OR when the nurse said, thats the 5th one this week! well it was only Wednesday! I dont want my kids to turn heads in class with 5 -7 more witht he same name.
Hobbit
2nd March 2007, 02:48 AM
I love the name Claire. :) Callie is nice too.
I also like Cara. (I'd spell it with a K, but you're going with a C theme, right?)
Cassie is pretty too.
Kirsty
2nd March 2007, 02:50 AM
I really like Cadence, and think it goes well with your other kids names :)
What about Candice?

It's been a crazy week. At my appt on Monday I'd dilated another cm. My OB is not an alarmist, but she felt I needed to go for the betamethasone series just in case. After many tears of exhaustion and frustration, I finally decided to take off work the rest of this week and next to get closer to my edd. It took me Tuesday and Wednesday to wrap things up at school. I know I made a good choice, though, as Wed. evening I started having true contractions. Wow, they hurt! Thankfully, by curling up on my left side, they subsided. I know odds are in our favor at 33 weeks, but I'd really like to keep Chloe inside a few more weeks. I slept pretty much all day Thursday and that did wonders. We just have so much left to get done! I'm making Chloe my priority, though.
I have to laugh at all the talk about softening cervixes, though. I was already soft, 50% effaced and 2 cm dilated before 33 weeks! My goal is to STOP progress for a bit. It will be ironic if I reach 38 weeks or so and am looking for ways to move her on out!
Kirsty
3rd March 2007, 07:21 PM
 pinktulip, that would be Murphy's Law wouldn't it?!
I had some wicked pains last night, i'd been walking around a fair bit during the day (we'd had Dyl's birthday get together), and by last night i actually thought i might be going into labour ROFL! But it settled down fortunately.

 Welcome Pinktulip.
How's everyone feeling this morning? I just found out that dh will have a business trip to Seattle for 10 days almost at the end of the month. Hopefully O doesn't decide 36 weeks is a good time to make an appearance.

Hey everyone im doing great hows everyone else..except for Kirsty of course but my thoughts are with her and hoping for a big healthy baby!
diane
6th March 2007, 05:54 PM
Okay did I miss something with Kirsty?? I saw that she was having some ctx the other day but she said they subsided. Is she okay???
Feeling pretty good here. Still have that lingering cough that the antibiotics didn't seem to help. Cramping every once and awhile but they stop. Work usually brings them on so we'll see what happens today at work. I went on bedrest at 33w1d with my last baby. Was ctxing all evening at work. Did a delivery at 10:40pm all the while contracting with the patient...finished my paperwork by 11:30...call my OB...and end up in the hospital for 2days!!! So hoping that doesn't happen again!
Does anyone know if Megan and Sacha will be joining us??
Anyone check out the other site...funny how similiar the format is to this site. I still have buddies there so I am staying there too.

Hello everyone! I finally made it over here after a busy week.
Kristy, thanks so much for setting this forum up...it looks great! As for the EPO, we're planning for Sacha to start on it orally this Thursday at 36 weeks and then vaginally at 38 weeks. Not sure exactly how much to use or if you can use too much. We'll probably ask our doc, but not sure if she'll have much info as she's not a midwife.
Tera, did you have fun at your shower? Ours was yesterday too and there were around 40-45 people there. It was crazy but fun and we got a lot of stuff we need.
Gyszel, how did your GBS test come out? Sacha will have that done at our appt this Thurs.
We're to weekly appts now and more other tests. This Thursday we'll have another ultrasound and non stress test and if everything looks good we'll probably have semi-weekly ultrasounds and bi-weekly non stress tests. Things are looking great for Sacha health wise though since she stopped working. Her BP is now sitting in the lower 120's over upper 60's/low 70's instead of upper 130s/mid 80s. So, that's great and our doc has basically said she's got a healthy pregnancy instead of the "high risk" category she's been dumped in for most of the pregnancy.
It doesn't look like an induction for pre-e or HBP will be coming our way which is fantastic. Now the only reason we need to worry about an induction is if her water breaks with no contrax or if she goes to 41.5 weeks. If that happens, hopefully the EPO and RRL tea will help it go smoothly. Also, before a medical induction, we'd try induction with acupuncture which is pretty successful.
I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I got laid off 2 weeks ago, so with neither of us working now things are pretty tight. Sacha's worried, but I'm really not. Perhaps I should be but I feel I have enough to think about right now, if you know what I mean. I'll get serious about looking for a job once the baby's here but right now we're so busy and I couldn't commit to a start date. I guess unemployment will have to do for now.
We'll can't believe that we're due in less than a month now. We're getting excited but also nervous about becoming parents and all that lies ahead. I know we'll be fine, but it's such a huge life change after it just being the two of us for over 14 years.
Devan

Hi ladies!
I stopped getting notifications for some reason so I'm behind!
I'm glad the baby showers went well! We're not having one this time, but we're planning a meet the baby party for sometime after O gets here.
Megan -I'm sorry you've been out of work! That must be stressful as far as finances go, but I suppose it's nice to be spending more time focusing on LB (I read the blog;) ) coming.
Kelly - thanks for the link! I didn't know anything was going on. I just scanned most of it - thanks so much for the update on Kirsty! I guess I need to venture out more and that thread wouldn't have gotten to 22 pages without me seeing it.
Diane - I saw it, but I'm not loving it for some reason. All of my bg's have moved, so I don't think I'll be paying to stay. It makes me sad, but honestly I'm on too many boards to keep up with now!
Everything is good here. Lots of BH ctrx lately, but no real ones I don't think. Dane's turning 2 on Thursday! Where did the time go!? :headscratch:
Kirsty
10th March 2007, 03:17 AM
What are you planning for Dane's birthday?
diane
10th March 2007, 03:40 AM
Kirsty- just read your update! They may induce this week?? WOW!! Our first baby!! Can't wait to find out what you are having and what you will name him/her!
Devan- what are your plans for Dane? I just planned my DD (Courtney) 4th bday party. She turns 4 3days before my due date. Decided to have her "friend" party on 4/1 because I am so afraid that if I planned it for sometime in April I would potentially have to cancel. And I definitely didn't want to have it after the baby arrives!
Megan- Glad to hear that Sacha is not considered high risk anymore and that she her BP is totally under control. Sorry that you were laid off. Hope you are collecting unemployment. Does Sacha have short term disability with her job? I was looking to read your blog but can't seem to find it!!
Devan
10th March 2007, 12:25 PM
Kirsty - How are you feeling?
For Dane's bday we are having a playdate here on Mon with his friends and then we'll just have cake and dinner on his birthday (TH) with just us. We already gave him his present, a trampoline, so it will be pretty low key.
Diane - Definitely a good idea to have it early! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
is Megan & Sacha's blog. Megan - I hope you don't mind that I posted the link!

Thanks for posting the link to our blog Devan. I'm trying to add a siggy here with a link to it also but we'll see if it worked.
Diane, Sacha doesn't have any disability pay. She's on FMLA now and then will have 4 months of parental leave after the baby comes. But, she only had about 2 months of vacation/sick/holiday pay saved up, so we'll get paid for 2 months out the 6 she's off. I have sent one resume so far. There aren't a lot of part time jobs in my field which is what I want. So, I have to really pick and choose. Anyway, I sent one resume Thursday and got a call back for an interview the very next day!
Here's Sacha yesterday: To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Megan- good luck with your interview! Great pic of Sacha!! She is glowing!! WOW!! 6 months off!! I have short term disability which covers me medically for anything before birth and then 6wks PP for vag delivery and 8wks for c/s. They pay 60% of your pay, no taxes are taken out and without the insurance taken out either as it comes from a different company than the hospital, it turns out to be about the same as my take home pay. I have very limited vac/sick time because I have used so much of it in the 6yrs I have been there on my other maternity leaves!!! So what I end up doing is just using enough of it to pay my insurance for the rest of my maternity leave. I plan to go back the end of July. I was sort of offered a job at the place I deliver at, which is where I also work per diem, I should find out in the next few weeks about that job. Which is one I really want!!! Pay is MUCH BETTER!!! And it is closer to my house. So I have the dilemma of what to do about my current job...I wouldn't be able to go back and give my notice because I would have to start at my other job and I can't tell them I am not coming back because then I wouldn't be eligible to the disability and my sick time (they would have to pay me my vac which right now is only about 3wks) So what to do??? DH says I should just string them along and tell them mid July that I won't be coming back. He's an attorney so I may have him look into how "legal" that is, though this place isn't union... Enough babbling!!!
Devan- the party "playdate" sounds like fun and just the cake on his actual bday is great. At 2, they don't get it just yet! have fun!!
Kirsty- did you get discharged today? Is the plan to induce this week? Did the betamethasone wreck havoc on your blood sugars? I still can't believe the difference in how they do things there and how they do them in NZ!! The OBs here would be doing all they can to keep that baby in as long as possible with the diabetes! Can't wait to hear all about it!
I just can't believe that we will be having babies in the next few weeks...I know I will probably be the last as I think I have the lastest due date but then again...all my babies have come before my due date!

Megan I followed you while I was on FF lol ***stalker*** great to see Sacha doing so well :)
Kirstys updates are all on her page, she is still in hosp for now, waiting for docs to do the rounds. They are talking induction on Friday if things are still not looking good. Having been through the NZ high risk system I know they will take baby out if there is more they can do for it on the out side than leave it inside. If she is getting sicker and the baby is struggling NICU can do more for bubs than Kirstys Placenta can :)

Megan and Diane, don't you hate trying to juggle the system? Right now I'm waiting to hear if I've been approved for the sick leave donation plan our district has. Basically, if approved people can donate one of their days to me and I'd be paid at my regular daily rate for this time I've been off. This would be the best scenario. If I am approved, I plan to stay out until 36 weeks and go back for the last 2 weeks until our spring break or until the baby is born. My other option is to have my OB write me out as of Mar. 1 when I started this stretch of leave and stay out until the baby comes. Then I can have my short term disablity kick in retroactive to Mar. 1. I can't go back at all before Chloe comes if I choose this option, or I can't draw the money. It's 40% of my salary, so we'd really be short. UGH!!! I keep telling myself that the money I'm losing now is nothing compared to what I'd lose and what it would cost us if Chloe comes and has to be in the hospital.
Here's my current belly.

Hey gals!
Sorry about not posting for so long...I somehow lost this link and had to go hunting for it again. :)
Anyway, quickie update from me, then I'll be back later for more. Group B Strep came back negative (yay!), but I have really low iron levels so I'm on Ferrous Gluconate 3 times a day from now until the birth.
I got my L&D bag packed this weekend. Woohoo! I finally feel "ready to go" any time now. :) I still cannot find my baby sling, though, which is really upsetting me because I wanted to use it right away! I might just find instructions on the web to make my own.
Work is giving me a hard time all of a sudden, and I'm really stressed out about it. I'm trying so hard to just not care, but it's hard. I am so tired and sore these days that I'm even getting to the point of not wanting to spend time with my DD because she just tires me out even more. At least I made it this far before getting this tired! I've started to get the swelling feet thing lately too, so I got a temporary handicapped parking pass for my office so I don't have to walk as far.
I just want this last month to be overwith!
Kirsty: I'm glad to see you back! I'll go try to catch up on your latest news. Hopefully you and baby are healthy and well. :)
Megan: I've been reading your blog, too. :) Great news all around, there!
Hello to everyone else! Pardon my short post, I'm just too tired and grumpy to be talkative these days. :)

Gyszel - good to hear from you! I'm pretty tired and grumpy these days too, the last weeks of pregnancy are hard work! Thanks for the reminder about the l&d bag, I still need to do that!
How's everyone else this morning?

We're still working on our hospital bag and some other before baby tasks. We pretty much have the baby's stuff ready but not ours.
Sacha thinks the baby may have dropped on Friday. She's not really peeing more but the heartburn suddenly went away and she has more pressure on her butt. Also, his little foot he likes to stick in her ribs seems consistently lower. She's been getting some more BH contrax too and is able to express more colostrum which is exciting....her body is getting into gear.
No time for personals right now...making dinner.

Tera, love the belly pic!!
Last night i spent all night in agony... my stomach was moving from side to side and i was almost crying most of the night. When i woke up this morning, i was really comfy, and my belly was a normal pregnant belly shape again. I said to Chris that i thought baby had turned back head down.
Had my hospital check up at 11am, and told the woman that i thought baby had turned. She told me that it was incredibly unlikely, not to get my hopes up, and basically made me feel like i was really stupid.
They did a quick scan, and i was right :nahnah: baby is now head down!!!

Great pics Tera!!!
Kirsty- glad you proved her wrong!!! Babies can turn at anytime!!! I had a patient once who was being induced and as the shift wore on, I was having a difficult time tracing the baby's HR, I was suspicious that she moved as I was finding it nice and strong up above her bellybutton. Sure enough...u/s confirmed that baby had flipped to breech!!! She ended up going home for the night to get a good nights rest and had a c/s the next day! Your pics are great too! I can really see a difference!
Doing well here except my carpal tunnel has really kicked in and my right hand is pretty much numb. Was awake for several hours last night with pain and numbness to it despite wearing my brace. Had an OB appt the other day, nothing significant. I do have an ear infection though!!! My cough finally went away but I was having some head congestion and woke the other morning with ear pain and sure enough. Now I can honestly tell you all that the last time I was on antibiotics was 10yrs ago!!! And now I have been on them twice in the past month!!! Start my weekly non stress tests next week just because I am OLD!!!
gotta run....my hand is killing me to type

Diane - sorry that your carpal tunnel is acting up!
Everything is going well here too. I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow. Had an appt Wed, all was good. BP and weight were normal. I go back in 2 weeks and then start every week appts.
Dh is going out of town tuesday for 10 days!

Hey gals!
As of tomorrow, I'm 38 weeks along. Literally in "any day now" mode, waiting for labor to start! I've started to lose my mucus plug, and I've had a couple of bouts of diarreah despite the iron 3 times a day. I'm also pretty sure the baby dropped yesterday, and now the muscles at the *bottom* of my belly are suddenly excrutiatingly sore. Also, my SIL and DH both commented that they thought I dropped, so it must be true, right?
I can't WAIT to meet this baby!! Nothing left to do here but deliver it... :)

Gyszel- so jealous!!! I am only 34wks so I still have some time left!!! I had all my babies before 40wks so I am expecting to have her in my arms in less than 6wks...4wks and a few days would be great. Getting tired of working and having my patients comment of how big I am and how they can't believe I am still working. Plus the OB's I work with are all saying the same thing (I don't deliver there) Plus...I want to see "who" she looks like so we can settle on a name.
Kirsty- so excited for you and the unbreeched baby! I can't wait to find out what you are having!!! One of the hospitals that I work at stopped doing VBACs a few years ago, I hope you get to have one. Do you have an induction date yet! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR LITTLE GUY!!!
Tera- what did the OB say? Your OB office has hours on a Sat? They just send them to us in L&D. Hope it means that you are gearing up? OR>>>are you already holding your little one and that is why you didn't post again??? Inquiring minds want to know!
Devan- we are exactly one week apart!
Alexsmom- sorry I forgot your first name:headscratch: are you finding out your induction date on Monday? Is there a reason for your induction?
Megan and Sacha- hanging in there?? you guys are getting close too!!!
besides the carpal tunnel which is keeping me up at night, nothing going on here. I have been talking to my coworkers (to get their opinions) about asking my OB to induce me. I think I may have told you all that my last 2 labors were very fast. I live only 8miles from the hospital but if anything happens at the "wrong time of day"...it could take me 45mins-1hr to get there due to traffic. I am reluctant to mess with mother nature...though I think that if I start to dilate some towards the end (like I did everytime before, last one I was 4cm at my last appt before he was born) I could maybe just ask for her to break my water and go from there...again...don't want to mess with mother nature but also don't want to deliver at home or worse...in the car:roll:
Devan
18th March 2007, 01:22 AM
Wow Gyszel! Not long now!! I'm a few weeks behind you, so I feel like I still have some time, but I know it's going fast. I really need to get on packing my hospital bag!

18th March 2007, 01:47 AM
I have a scan on Monday and they will then confirm Friday as the day.
Diane, i think since you've had really fast labours it might be safer to be induced. Good luck with your decision.

For a while there we thought we were going to have a St. Patrick's Day baby. I started having contractions last evening around 6. They weren't regular, but often enough and with enough intensity we loaded up and went to my mom's. I tried the drinking water/lying down trick and that didn't stop them, so we went on to l & d. With it still being too early, I didn't want to mess around. The monitor confirmed I was having cx, but not regular ones. Every 5 or 6 cx, I'd have a real doozy, but still no pattern. When I finally saw the OB on call, I was 3cm. Since that was a change from earlier in the week, they kept me overnight. My cx settled down then picked up all night long. Since I'm still early, they were taking a wait and see approach. Finally I saw an OB from my practice this morning. I was almost a 4, but still rather posterior. He decided to send me to my mom's for the day with a sleeping pill and instructions to rest. We're home now, and I'm still have odd little cx, but we're going to wait and see what the next day or two brings. For now, we're going to try to hold out until my water breaks or my cx actually organize themselves. At this point, I'll take as many more days (or even weeks!) as my body will give me. I'm so glad I decided not to go back to work! We'd probably have been in this situation earlier in the week if I had.
Sorry not to respond to everyone else. I'm worn out and heading to bed!

Kirsty- how was the scan today??
Diane_ my first name is mandy, I have a scan(ultrasound) tomorrow monday for me...go to OB office wednesday for an appointment hopefully will know then when he will induce there is no medical reason for it just a convenience thin as I have other children and would like to if at all possible be prepared for them to be somewhere instead of having to rush them off to someone in a hurry if I go into labor on my own plus will help to know also with DH work schedule as he works night shift and sleeps in the daytime.
Well good luck to everyone hope to hear of some new babies here soon!!

I had my scan/appointment today. Baby is approx 7lb 4oz, and they are looking at inducing Thur/Fri or Sat, i get the confirmation tomorrow for what time/day.
I am 3cm dilated, and cervix is 'favourable', so they will look at breaking my waters, i then have to be in hospital due to risk of infection, and if no labour within 24 hours, they will start the gel.

Kirsty- we will have our first baby by the end of the week??? :cheer: Still amazed at the way they do things downunder! Can you clarify the time change? I am still confused about it! I see that your bday is next Sunday!! What a nice bday present for you! Hopefully the baby will have it's own bday!
Mandy- good luck today! I too would love an induction for the convience of childcare as well as my history of fast labors but the hospital I deliver at frowns on it. I actually work there (one of the places I work at) and will be starting there as my regular job after my maternity leave but they just don't do it which is why I am leaning towards asking if I can be induced due to my fast labors...we'll see...It is actually going to be be weird delivering this time because I do work there...with my last 3, I didn't work there. Oh well...
Devan- great pic!!! I hope that O won't arrive in the next 10days! Is DH going to be far away?
Casey- are you still hanging in there? Can't believe that despite the irregular ctx they sent you home with cervical changes. Hope she stays in awhile longer!
Tera- sorry your body is protesting! So your c/s is 4/6? YEAH!!! So we know one baby by the weekend and one on 4/6!
Gyszel- are you still with us?? haven't heard from you in a few days??
Megan&Sacha- hope all is well with you too! you are getting close to meeting that little man!
Feeling pretty good. Carpal tunnel didn't keep me up toomuch last night but it is a little numb this morning. Work tmo and the next day...NST on Wed...and working the weekend. my boss wants to know when I am going to be "done" I told her when my OB says I am done (just like all the other times) Need a medical reason to stop working to collect my short term disability.

diane
19th March 2007, 08:43 PM
Kirsty- yes! I did mean the time zone difference. we just had the daylight savings time change here and that was on my brain! NST is a non stress test. Where they hook you up to the monitor to be sure that the baby is active. We look for the baby to have accelerations in the heart rate. Shows a healthy baby. We look for 2 accelerations in a 10min period. I am 38 and considered old or advanced maternal age so they do them because the potential for the placenta to start breaking down at an eariler stage. It is called a Non Stress Test because it is done without any stress being put on the baby. A Stress Test is when they attempt to give you contractions with pitocin to see if the baby will tolerate the contractions. Does that make sense? Or did I just confuse you even more? If you were here, because of your diabetes, we would also be doing weekly NSTs on you. The OBs where I work, do them for many reasons some of which we can't understand why?? Anyway...sorry if I confused you even more.
Kirsty
19th March 2007, 08:46 PM
diane, we're at +12 at the moment.
We have those NST's, but we call them CTG's (cardio taco graphs). I was on them twice a day last week while in hospital, but normally only if you have problems really. Not once a week or anything like that.

Hi!
Only a few minutes before I have to go to work...
Work was crazy last night...I was having some ctx but they did go away. Good thing because we were so busy that there was no way I could leave to go to my "hospital" to get checked.
NST was okay. Took a long time for me to "pass" but I did! But...my BP was slightly elevated so that coupled with my tree trunk legs:roll: and my swollen sausage fingers bought me a ticket to the lab for some bloodwork. Everything was fine with that so off to work yet again...I was hoping for a "medical reason" to get me out of work. Oh well...
sorry no personals...gotta run!!!

I'll have to add the rest of my stuff last minute since I'm using it currently. (bras, clothes and makeup, hairspray, hairbrush, cell phone charger, cameras/batteries)
For the baby I've got a few little outfits, socks, mittens, a boppy pillow, hat, sling, little toys for the baby to give Dane. I think that' s all...

Kirsty- ONE MORE DAY!!! Or is it today to you??? Again...time zone ignorant!! HMMMM>>>sorted Dylan's clothes...are you having a boy?? I am so excited to here all about it!
Devan- I technically could leave work whenever I want but I don't have a lot of vac/sick time and I don't want to go back to work until 7/31. We need the extra money now. So I really need a medical reason so that I can start my short term disability. My coworkers are amazed when I show up for my shifts. I actually feel fine...tired...swollen...and have a few ctx here and there but there really is no reason for me to stop working. Besides wanting to:roll: Worked until 38wks with Connor (my first) (doing 12hr night shifts), she took be out for a slightly elevated BP, he was born at 39w2d With Courtney (my second) worked until 37w4d but when I went to my next scheduled appt which was the day before my next scheduled shift, I was 3-4cm and she felt I should be "done" She was born at 38w4d. With Colin, went out at 33w1d with preterm ctx...worked all night contracting then drove myself to the hospital after my shift and spent 2days there. He wasn't born until 38w6d.
We'll see what happens after this weekend...I am working Sat, Sun, Mon (short 4hr shift), Tues and Wed...I bet by my NST on Wed something will be doing. Next appt is 3/27.
Stuff for the bag is ready...now just need to find the bag I have used in the past. Thanks for the refresher as to what to put in it!!!
Mandy- where are you? how was your appt yesterday?? We need to know!!!

Kristy, is today the day? Wow, I'm so excited for your little birthday present to arrive. :woohoo:
Tera, thank you for the awesome package and very generous gift from you and the WW gals. We felt so very loved. : )
Sorry I've been so out of touch lately. We've been facing an induction scare the past week and so we've been really scrambling to get everything ready. Or I should say I've been scrambling as I've had Sacha on the couch as much as possible because her BP has become unstable and rising in the past week. We've moved to twice a week Dr. Appts and labwork checking, 2-3 NSTs a week and weekly ultrasounds. Whew! So, between that and getting things ready at home, oh and just keeping the house going, I haven't had much time to update boards.
At our appt yesterday, our doc decided to increase Sacha's BP med so we can try to wait for labor to happen naturally or at least get to 40 weeks before an induction. Her BP is much lower today so that's great and hopefully will keep him in longer. Also, with lower BP she'll be able to get off the couch which has been driving her crazy (and she driving me crazy) and get some more exercise which could help labor get started. On Tuesday she was only 40% effaced and no dialation but the baby is down fairly far, so we're heading in the right direction.

Megan - I hope LB gets to cook till he's all done. :babyboy: It sounds like you're prepared though and that's great!
Kirsty - :woohoo:
I had some contractions this morning. Real ones this time, and not just BH ctrx. I only had about 4, but it was within 20 minutes and I started to get a little freaked out! I'm only 36 weeks still, and with D out of town - I'm not ready! Luckily, they stopped in short order. I'm sure it's just my body preparing for the big day. :fingersx:

Kirsty- hope all is going well...or should I say...hope everything went well...finally figured out the time difference and you are 16hrs ahead so I would assume you are holding that little one by now! Can't wait to hear about our first baby!
Megan&Sacha- sorry about all that is happening with you guys. Hope LB does a bunch more cooking! I know you both aren't too thrilled with the thought of induction. Hell...I have fast labors and am scared of asking my OB to be induced. I am glad to hear that the increase in BP meds is helping.
Devan- no ctx while D is out of town! You hear me!
Mandy- yeah for the first week of April!
We haven't heard from Casey in awhile (pinktulip) Hope all is well with her!
Heading off to work shortly. Getting into a manic nesting phase! My house needs so much tidying up and I still need to find a few baby items!
I will be checking in from work to see if there are any Kirsty updates!

How's everyone doing today?
Feeling pretty good here. Had a couple of contractions today, and a lot of BH ctrx. I'm hoping that at my appt on Wed, she'll tell me that *something* is going on. I still think I have a couple of weeks to go, but i wouldn't mind being surprised. lol

Hi
feeling pretty good...just completed shift 3 out of 5 in a row. appt tmo. saw my OB tonight at work, said she would check me with all the pressure I was having but I figured I would wait for my appt. legs (not just feet/ankles) are really swollen so had one of the girls check my BP. It was really high the first time...but the other 2 were lower. we'll see what it is like at my appt...I have to bring Colin (my 2.5yo) with me so that is stressful enough. can only imagine what my weight gain will be with all this extra fluid:roll:
off to bed!
Devan- anxious to hear if you are "doing anything"
Hope everyone is well! Some of you guys are really close! so exciting!

Hey Girls
quick update on my appt. BP was fine but she was concerned about the elevated one last night so decided to write that note and I am officially out of work! WOOHOO!!! Thought I would at least work the rest of the week but she said I was done.
she checked my cervix and I am 2cm/50% so these ctx and this pressure is doing something!
Hope all is well with everyone else! Anxious to hear updates on appts!

Devan
28th March 2007, 05:03 PM
Morning ladies!
Looks like 2cm is the number to be around here! How exciting that you might be induced early next week!!!
I had an appt this morning and my Dr. said that I am 2cm and "very soft" though she didn't specify what that means exactly.
I'm supposed to be going once a week, but she wanted to see me in 10 days. I thought that was weird.
Do you ladies have any idea why that would be? I can't figure out if she thinks I'll have him before then, or if nothing will happen in the next 10 days, or if she's just going to be out of town. I should have asked her.
In any case, the next appt they had was in 2 weeks, so I actually won't go back till the 11th. I'll be almost 39 weeks by then!!
I hadn't gained any weight the last 2 weeks either. I was pretty happy about that! I think I'll manage to keep my gain under 35 lbs this time. WOO! (I gained 50 with Dane.)
How's everyone else doing this morning?

How is everyone this morning?
I had a lot of irregular contractions yesterday, and for an hour last night I had some very regular, painful ctrx. I had about 10 in that hour, but after a warm shower they went away. I've only had one today.
I guess this could go on for awhile.
I've been thinking about taking EPO or RRL tea. Anybody have any recs or know how much to take?
Mandy
30th March 2007, 06:18 PM
I took the EPO 4 a day by mouth it seemed to do the job!! Only took it for a week or so before I had her

Kirsty- are you home now? How are you feeling? Shannon is beautiful! Beautiful girl with a beautiful name. Congrats again! How is Dylan doing with her?
Mandy- are you home too? How are the older kids doing with her? Congrats again on a beautiful little girl!
Devan- I have been having some slightly painful ctx too and a ton of pressure. Unfortunately...DH is 2hrs away...:nailbite:I am home alone with 3 crazy kids! and I need my mother to watch them when I go into labor...going to try to try a warm shower or tub...maybe that will do the trick. guzzling water and I will lie down after I feed them
Kirsty
31st March 2007, 01:25 AM
Oh man, not much of an update here, am tired, don't seem to have enough hours in the day at the moment LOL
Dylan is coping really well, but clingy, and regressing with things like, when Shannon has a feed, he wants his bottle too, we were down to basically one a day before bed, so he's having lots during the day now. I'm not that worried about that, and will just go with the flow on that one.
I am accepting people's help, something i didn't do with Dylan, mum came over today, and offered to wash the bathroom/toilet, so i let her. It's always been something i've been 'embarrassed' about, needing help, but i do need it, and it's lovely she's here to help me.
Devan
31st March 2007, 03:05 AM
Kirsty - I'm glad you are able to accept help this time.
Diane - i hope they stop since Dh isn't home!!
Picked up some EPO today. Hopefully it will do something. lol

HI
Kirsty- second the help!! though I have to admit I am not one who accepts help gracefully. I know my mother will be here a lot and I will willingly accept any help she is willng to give. Having 4 kids is surely going to be a challenge!
Mandy- glad you got a good baby there! Yeah for the inlaws helping out too. I only have a MIL and she is in her late 70's and she is not the nicest person. She does live only 1/2mile away but I never see her. Not that she is helpful when she does come by...it's more stress for me to have her here so it is just as well she stays away.
Devan- good luck with the EPO. Never used it before. May look into it next week
So I am still here! the ctx subsided after drinking lots of water. The kids and I walked a mile yesterday and so I think I needed some extra fluid. I was able to take a nice relaxing bath after they went to bed and that helped too. Also went to bed early. My carpal tunnel is really bothering me lately. Keeping me up at night. My hands are so swollen that the actually itch because the skin is stretched so much! UGH!!! I just hope it goes away quickly after delivery! it is only pregnancy related and has to be the most annoying part of my pregnancies!
Devan
31st March 2007, 04:39 PM
Diane - what a pain! I hope it goes away quickly. My fingers are starting to swell this time, which I didn't get with Dane, just my feet swelled with him.
No ctrx to speak of since yesterday, just some BH.

We haven't heard from Gyszel or Casey lately...wonder how they are doing?
Doing fine here. Colin, my younger DS, woke up at 3am this morning...I was convinced that my water would break and he just knew he needed to spend that extra time with Mommy...it happened when my water broke with Courtney, Connor woke in the middle of the night and wanted to play and snuggle with me. Shortly after he and I both fell back to sleep I was awoken to my water breaking! Thought history was repeating itself.
I just need to get through today as we decided to have Courtney's bday party a few weeks early and it is today! She is running around here telling everyone it is her day and she is the birthday queen! LOL
No ctx to speak of so I think I will make it through the day just fine!

5th April 2007, 01:34 PM
Oh Devan! Too bad it was false! How many weeks were you with Dane?
The longest I went was with my first and it wasn't totally full term, 39w2d. The others were in the 38wk range so hoping she will be here in less than 2wks. Though it is going to be a looooooong 2wks!
Devan
5th April 2007, 03:37 PM
Diane - I had to be induced with Dane at 40 w 4 days. I had no real contractions to speak of with him, only BH. I was dilated to a 3 and was only induced with cervadil.
This time I just feel so many ctrx and feel the baby so low (the pressure!!!) that I keep thinking I'll go earlier. My bet is still on about a week from now, I'll be almost 39 weeks by then. I wouldn't complain if it was sooner though, but I do have a prenatal massage and pedicure scheduled for Saturday, so I'd hate to miss that. Lol ;)

Ok so Gage Ronan Nelson arrived at 1258pm on April 3rd, 2007. Weighed in at a hefty 7 pounds even and 18 inches, even. Smallest I have ever had. Turns out I started contracting right after water broke. Scarey is that when thye did my CS, they found my uterus was so thin, they could see Gage's hair and ear right thru it! So I have been told no more babies. Our girls will have to be grown in our hearts and not from our bodies. Makes me sad, but I cant risk my health or my three boys being motherless.
I am home and doing well. I had a pedicure the night before. Dont ya know, it did me in I think!
Anyway, off to relax and get to know my new lil man.
Love to yo all!

Tera- CONGRATS!!! :cheer: he is gorgeous! And I love his name! I can't tell you how many times I have seen that "window" (as we call it) on repeat c/s. It is scary. I loved what you said about your girls being grown in your hearts and not in your body. Nicely stated!

I bathe Ashleigh every other day she absolutly hated it as cant actually put her in tub till her cord comes off!!
She also loves tummy time and is trying to lift her head up on her own already!!

Why can't you put her in the tub? Both Dylan and Shannon were bathed at the hospital on the 2nd day, and almost every day since, with their cords. Dylan's fell off about 6 days old, Shannon's about 8 days old.
Shannon is 2 weeks old today

Thats weird alexsmom that you can't immerse Ashleigh till the cord comes off. That thinking went out of fashion years ago here in NZ.

Hmm, interesting how other places do things! Morgan's actually came off after he had a bath because it was softer

That is weird here they die it with this purple stuff after it dries they take the clamp off then tell you no tub baths till it falls off but to clean it good with alcohol a few times a day to keep it cleen and help dry it up usually takes around 2 weeks before it falls off!! If for some reason I ever have another (dont think im gonna) I will have to try it that way since it seems to fall off sooner who knows with some of the crazy ways they think over here..

Just looked up Morgan's info and his fell off at 9 days, cut the clamp off the morning after he was born so minimum 12 hours.
And Happy 2 weeks Shannon!

I find it strange about the wipe with alcohol bit as I was told at antenatal classes not to wipe them with anything but water as the alcohol actually preserves it which in turn makes it take longer to fall off!

Hi sorry been busy. Logan got the stomach flu THursday night right after we had just gotten home. Go figure. So Logan not Gage has had me up.. Gage is at birth weight 4days post birth. Doing well.
Devan- I have to ask, do some go ahead and have more? I have just been devastated, we wanted one more child. And now when I share this, I have lots of women who said they did two things for subsequent births. waited an extra year between them and had amnio for lung maturity and cs early at like 36 or 37 wks. My dh is worried, but he knows how I feel about another one. Any advice? The ob did say it was cause for concern and that I may want to weight the risk before becoming PG again. Any thoughts from a clinical stand point?

Ah!! I'm a Bad bad buddy group member...I lost the shortcut to this site, and didn't check my email for way too long...anyway, enough excuses, I'm sorry it took me almost a week to update you all!!
Devan, thanks for posting the news of Sarah's arrival. :) You rock!
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Megan and Sacha, AlexsMom and Tera, on the arrival of their little bundles of joy!! The pictures are awesome :)
Here's a short version of my birth story:
I had regular BH contractions Sunday night, and we went to the mw to have a check at midnight-ish. I was only 2cm and my contractions had slowed down, so she sent us home to sleep.
Monday we spent all day trying to get the contractions to kick up, but they stayed as BH, and irregular all day, but getting stronger as the sun went down. At 3:30, my mw suggested castor oil, so I had a big meal and then took my first dose at 4:30. At 5:15 my first true contraction hit, and my water broke at 6:05pm. We called the mw, packed the car (kids were already at SIL's from the night before), and got to the birth center at 6:45-ish. I was almost 5cm when we arrived.
I spent about 2 hours in the jacuzzi, laboring well. Then the castor oil took effect, so I spent a few minutes on the toilet. Then I stayed out of the tub, laboring on the birthing stool or in the bed for about half an hour. I got checked and was 8cm at 9:15 or so, and completely dialated just a few minutes after that.
I started pushing around 9:30, and in just 4 contractions/pushes, Sarah Anne was born at 9:40pm. I got to be the one to check for her gender, and it was soo cool! I swear I looked 3 times for a hidden penis, I was just so SURE she was a boy! LOL We still hadn't even decided on a girl name when we got there, so we didn't name her for about 5 minutes as we went through all the choices we had, and decided on what fit her the best. :)
Her stats: 7lbs, 2oz, 19 inches long
We rested for about an hour, and went home right after. We were home before midnight, so a total of 5.5 hours away from the house (including driving time) to go, have the baby, and get home. :) I LOVED sleeping in our own bed the first night, no nurses waking me every hour for useless blood pressure or temperature checks...it was lovely. My birth experience was amazingly empowering, and I swear I felt 100% recovered by Wednesday.
I had no tearing or anything, and I'm ready to start exercising and BDing ASAP! (I have to wait at least another week to start, though...)
Sarah is nursing well, my milk came in on Wed and the engorgement ended Saturday. She wakes up about 3 or 4 times between 10pm and 6am, so I do get a few solid hours of sleep in there somewhere.
Natalie loves her baby sister, though she has had a horrible cold this week and hasn't been allowed to come close to Sarah yet. Hopefully we'll all be healthy and back to normal sometime this week! My Mom is still here visiting from Canada, so I have help. DH went back to work today (he was home all last week, and it just didn't feel long enough to us. I hate that men don't get more paternity-leave paid for).
Anyway, sorry for the long rambling post. Now what you've all been waiting for...PICTURES!!

Congrats to all the new babes and growing families!
Here's Finn's birth story:
Finn Alexander arrived Monday, April 2nd at 10:53 am weighing 7lb 8oz and measuring 19.25 inches.
Sacha's water broke Saturday morning March 31st at 5 am. After 3.5 hours in triage we came home, walked, made a cake and tried to get labor kicked off.
After sporadic labor, we returned to the hospital that evening and were induced via misoprostol around 9:30pm.
Three doses of miso later, Sacha's labor kicked into full gear. It took 24 hours to dilate from 0 to 5 centimeters. Sacha had full-on back labor for the last four of those hours where she would have long contractions back to back, sometimes lasting for as many as thirty minutes.
Our doc called and Sacha had dilated only 1 cm (4-5cm) over the previous four hours, she was concerned about the labor's progression and she wanted to start an epidural and pitocin to relax the pelvic floor, help the contraction be more productive and generally speed things along. We decided to go ahead with the interventions.
We started pushing at 5:15 am on April 2nd. Sacha pushed for nearly three hours then took a break from exhaustion while our doc called in an OB for a vacuum extraction consult. We agreed to try the vacuum in an attempt to avoid a c-section. Sacha pushed for another hour and a half and they did five attempts to get Finn out with the vacuum. Nothing.
After the fifth vacuum attempt, a c-section was the only remaining option. They prepped Sacha and we rolled into the OR fairly quickly. It was the right decision but a really, really hard one. Finn emerged with a nice big scream.
Finn was posterior and his head was cocked toward Sacha's left hip. Vaginal delivery would have been nearly impossible, especially given her ruptured membranes. He held up really well all the way through our doula's second longest labor of her career of 200+ births. He rarely decelerated and was never distressed.
Strangely enough it turned out to be the labor we wanted. Every decision for intervention was difficult but there was not a single one that wasn't medically necessary and we feel good about how hard we worked to bring him to the world. It was a rough path to take ending not just in a c-section but a 2nd degree vaginal tear due to very hard pushing.
We're sleep deprived and adjusting. Finn is a sweet little boy and learning all about him is a welcome challenge. The postpartum emotional sh*t...not so much. But, we LOVE him.

I had a Dr's appt this morning and we decided to go ahead and induce on Friday. (at 5am!)
I'm at about the same place that I was (cervix wise.) as when I was induced with Dane, so I'm guessing it will be a similar experience.
The Dr did say that the baby feels to be a "good size" and doesn't want to wait too long, as Dane was a good size for a first baby and I really don't want a 9-10 lb'er. :)
My parents will be coming down tomorrow and I feel at ease that they will be able to be here and take care of him while I'm in the hospital. It's been one of my biggest worries.
Normally, I'm not for induction without a medi
