I don't think that those parents have a brain cell between them. I hate txt speak at the best of times, but to incorporate it into a childs name? Fidiots IMO.

In US there was a child named Fatso. He later sued his parents foe emotional distress and changed his name. 4Real could do it too :P

I agree that there has to be some rules surrounding names. Poor child will have to spend his whole life explaining how to write his name (if he gets to keep it) wouldn't be surprised if he changed it by deed poll as soon as he was old enough if it does happen

Irresponsible parenting, IMO. A name should be something for a child to be proud of, not something that causes them to be ridiculed.

exactly. Why as a parent would you WANT your child to be teased and humiliated?

I saw this on bbc website, it might be old news where you are though

Name game

The name might sound more like a comedian's catchphrase or a fruit juice, but the Wheatons were deadly serious.

Sadly for them, the authorities in New Zealand did not share their enthusiasm for the unusual - their choice was rejected by the country's registrar of births, deaths and marriages.

The rules state that first names starting with a number are not allowed.

The law also advises parents to avoid names that could cause their child to be teased or made fun of.

Undeterred, the Wheatons now plan to call their newborn son Superman, but have said they will refer to him as 4Real.

The baby's family argues that if people can be known as John Williams III, for example, then why can a number not be used at the beginning of a name?

Officials in New Zealand have been involved in similar disputes before.

In the past they have had to intervene to stop parents naming their offspring Satan and Adolf Hitler

poor wee guy. OK, I like unusal names - you might be able to tell that :greenlol: however, I would never *knowingly* give a child a name that will make them a laughing stock. IMO this kid will be fine til the teeage years - it will be cool when he is in primary and his real name (on birth cert and everything) is superman - come on, what kid wouldnt think so...But as you get older, the coolness is going to wear off, and unless he has a winning personality he is poked at high school :omg:

I was considering putting danger on Leandra's birth cert as her middle name, but I didn't. If she wants to do that one day she can.
