Was out last night past midnight and I was expecting the police to come in and ban and fine everyone who was smoking lol !!!

I can't believe that u cannot smoke in a pub or restaurant anymore. I don't even smoke and never have and I think they could have done other things than to do a total ban.

We have the same thing here in NZ. The smokers were in an uproar initially but I think it's great. Smokers can no longer endanger the lives of staff or non smoking patrons of a place. If they chose to smoke, doesn't mean they should be allowed to force everyone else to either.

Yeah we have this ban here Gina. Smoking in a restaurant is disgusting anyway! Didn't bother me too much when it came in. Funny though I'm a casual smoker but don't much like being in a smoke filled room :headscratch:
I never smoke in my house either. I bet there has been a bit of a up roar over it all?

its fantastic!
we've had it here since march 06 and its great.
BUT now you have people smoking in doorways which you cannot avoid if you are going in/out the building.
and everywhere you go there are half a dozen people outside pubs etc smoking, which isn't a good look.

What's a good reason for having smoking in bars Gina?

Me having a beer doesn't mean the person sitting next to me cops some of my beer. Me having a smoke DOES mean the person next to me also shares it. How is that a good thing?

I love the smoking ban.

I used to hate going to pubs etc because of the smoke. I don't react well to it - if I've been sitting in a smokey room it irritates my sinuses to the point that I can't breathe through my nose for the next 24 hours or so.

Now that's not an issue. If I go out to a pub with friends I no longer come home reeking of smoke and having to mouth-breathe for a day or so because some smokers have decided to inflict their addiction on me.

If smokers want to smoke, that's fine - their lungs, their choice. I don't think they have the right to expect others to breathe the by-products of their habit though.

They have banned smoking here in several different states not the whole country but there are laws against it in different states it can be a good thing but in ways like my mom owned a convenient store and wasnt even allowed to smoke in the back room of the store according to law because it was a public store I dont think that the law should be able to go that far as long as its not in a public area!
