OMG i would never be able to sleep if it wasn't for one of these!

It has a pad that goes under their mattress that monitors movement, and is a sound monitor as well.

Definately agree there, I have one, it's only gone off twice and both times it kick started him breathing by startling him (but didn't wake him). Trick to these is to have it set to the lowest sensitivity you can for the space they're in (bassinette 1, cot 2 usually) and to be careful tucking blankets underneath because they can lift the mattress off the pad.

I LOVE mine it was a godsend when Ella was little and it woke us as she had a couple of breath holding episodes that Ella only came out of when i went in and woke her. Apparently this is the number one cause of cot death!! Im SOOOOOOOOOO forever glad i have it!!!!

I totally agree. My niece was considered to be at high-risk of SIDS for something we were told could be genetic, so I was really paranoid that something would happen to our girls. DH's work bought us one of these when Erin was a few weeks old - at last I was able to wake up in the morning without dreading what I'd find when I went to check on her (Erin slept through the night right from the start, so I always woke before she did.)

It did go off a few times too. Mostly when they were older and had wriggled off the sensor, but there was at least one occasion when it was obviously a genuine alarm; either me picking her up or the alarm going off obviously stimulated her to the point of breathing again.

Love those things; would highly recommend them to anyone. I've since loaned mine out to a few friends to give them the same peace of mind. :)
