IMO, that is just normal baby behaviour - they use their mouths for exporation and its later on that they learn to explore with their hands and eyes.

Unless he is still hungry after his bottle then I would hold off on the solids for now

When did you start Tai on solids? Sticking everything in his mouth is just normal baby behaviour. My girls were both on solids at 4 months (Angela at 3). We have not seen any long lasting negative effects.

i usually try to hold off till 4months with solids but going by what you said with the swollen gums etc.... it could be teething :dontknow: and yeh the mouth is there way of exploring diff textures etc...

Yay!! hehehe

i started tai as 4ish months but he didnt want it and was drinking near on 300mls!! and i had major probs with him reacting to things like cheese and chocolate and yea and has ezcma but that can be passed down as i have it to......... i will hold of for a while with solids dont need him anybigger then he alread is at the moment!! lol

I think firstly they need to be able to hold their own head up so they don't choke on the food.

Max has solids now coz hes hungry after a bottle, he opens his mouth when the spoon comes near and hes not pushing the food out with his tongue.

Max is about the same age as our two littlies

hmmm I've been wondering about the solids thing over the last couple of days - I didnt start Casey till 5 and a half month so it seems really early and I know they now recommend 6 months where it use to be 4 months.

My thing is that Zoey use to sleep for 11-13 hours at night and now she is waking after about 8 having a full bottle and going straight back to sleep so she is only waking for food not because she thinks its time to get up or that she has actually had a full nights sleep
